It’s just a short trip to the supermarket, time is short and the fidgety little one won’t sit still anyway – there are certainly a lot of excuses why not to properly secure a child in a vehicle, but no good reason not to. In some cases, a few simple movements can mean the difference between life and death. Civic engagement and information about how to properly sit in a vehicle have top priority at RECARO Child Safety. That’s why the company has been carrying out educational work in China for years – work for which it has now been recognized for the fourth time.

In 2015, the association Global New Car Assessment Programme (NCAP) launched the global Stop the Crash initiative. Its goal is to make a broad section of the population more familiar with safety technology and thereby to reduce the number of deaths from traffic accidents. In the Stop the Crash event, held from October 16 to 18 in Shanghai and organized by the China Automotive Technology & Research Center (CATARC), representatives of RECARO Child Safety were presented with not one but two awards: the 2017 Automobile Safety Decade of Action Star Support Award and the 2017 Automobile Safety Decade of Action Pioneer of Public Welfare Award.

For us, it is clear that how to correctly secure children in a vehicle is something fundamental that should be understood by everyone. That is why we do everything we can to provide information and education in countries where child seats and safety belts are sometimes not used,” said Emanuel Baur, Sales Director Asia at RECARO Child Safety. “Receiving these awards shows us that we are on the right track and that our engagement for this cause is having the effect that we have hoped for.

About 400 guests participated in the Stop the Crash event, including Chinese government officials as well as representatives from renowned international companies like BMW, Bosch, Continental and RECARO. Event participants spent two days examining issues of road safety, with child safety also playing a major role.

We have set ourselves the goal of strengthening safety awareness in the population,” Baur explained. “This year, for the first time, we are presenting the new RECARO child seat educational videos that show parents how important a child seat is for their child’s safety.

During a discussion round with leading representatives in the field of road safety, Baur explained the deep commitment of RECARO Child Safety to this topic: the company has been conducting an information campaign on the topic for several years, together with the Chinese government and the CATARC testing Institute.
